Field of poppies with wind turbines and a rainbow on the background.

John McNeill speaks with Merle Eisenberg and Lee Mordechai about the changes to environmental and disease history over the last half century. McNeill first lays out his definition of environmental history, and discusses the background of the field. Then, he reflects on how different chronological and geographical fields use sources and how this may change moving forward. The conversation touches upon the question of agency of non-humans, and issues like collaboration, how it works and how it may change in the discipline of history.
