The medical humanities asks me to engage with what it means to be human; it asks me to engage with humanity

As a medical humanities minor, I have been afforded the opportunity to explore not only the inner workings of the medical field, but what it means to live, die, and partake in a society. Topics concerning bioethics, literature, history, and more are explored. Delving into a medical humanities course asks you to delve into multiple subjects, time periods, and thought processes. We are asked to expand our minds and knowledge in a constructive way that makes us well-rounded intellectuals contributing to a growing field. As a STEM major, this minor and initiative ensure I don’t boil my education down to molecules or equations. It asks me to engage with what it means to be human; it asks me to engage with humanity.
