“Bats, Battiness, and the COVID-19 Pandemic” was John McNeill’s contribution to Environmental History‘s Reflections: Environmental History in the Era of COVID-19. McNeill reflects on the ways that have made the pandemic an environmental history event. First, our changing human habits, that make us “more like bats”, and, thus, better hosts for the virus. And second, the realities of environmental injustice, and the conspicuous failures of political leadership.
