Dr. Christopher King Leads the Development of Implicit Bias Education Module for DC Department of Health

Dr. Christopher King is amongst the experts of the Department of Health Systems Administration at the School of Nursing & Health Studies that contributed to the creation of “Implicit Bias: A Practical Guide for Healthcare Settings,” a new educational module on implicit bias, offered by the District of Columbia Department of Health.

This module seeks to engage participants in active introspective about their personal biases, the way the health of individuals can be harmed by biases, and how such bias occurs within hospitals and other health care environments. Its creation follows one of the recommendations of the 2020 report Health Disparities in the Black Community: An Imperative for Racial Equity in the District of Columbia, for which Dr. King served as lead author.

“This training is a contribution to the Department of Health’s commitment to a health care delivery system that values and respects the unique identities of each and every resident,” he said.
